Being Prideful

Proverbs 16:18:” Pride goes before destruction, and haughtiness before a fall”.

This morning as I was reading a book during my devotional time, I had to repent for being prideful. I realize that this is an issue in my life that creeps up at different times. I find myself becoming prideful when I need to prove a point to someone, especially if they throw shade or act as if I do not know what I am talking about. I also become prideful when I want to put someone in their place because I feel they’ve offended me or they downplay my work or abilities. Being prideful is having an arrogantly superior attitude, rather than being modest. This scripture warns us that being prideful leads to destruction. Author Beth Moore puts it this way, ” Pride cheats wherever it plays…Pride cheats us of our God-given destiny …because we demand our own way.” Today, let us ask the Lord to forgive us for being prideful. My prayer is that we will desire to ask God to replace our pride with humility, In Jesus Name.
