Make Space

Last night, I was in bed watching Season 2 of Luke Cage (finally, right?!). Noah was bathed, fed, and prayed over. Noah put her head on my chest and started to fall asleep. I thought,” Okay cool, she is going to bed early tonight,” but somehow that quickly changed because for some reason, Noah got her second wind. Noah got up and was in her own world, doing her own thing, playing and cooing. I said to myself “ Ok, it’s still early, she will tire herself out and go to sleep eventually.”

At one point, Noah stopped playing and laid still. I could’ve put her in her crib with the lights out until she fell asleep, but I didn’t want to. Instead, I reached out to hold her hand. She turned over and began to touch my hand with her cute little fingers. She laid there peacefully, quietly, and content. We connected. I made space for her and was present to behold my heart in my hands. This is what life is about.

Love,

Noah’s Mommy
